Volunteer Expenses in a UK Rescue: The Line Between Reimbursement and Pay
A UK rescue may reimburse a volunteer for costs actually incurred and almost nothing beyond that. Section 44 of the National Minimum Wage Act 1998 is the provision doing the work, and a flat weekly payment to a regular foster carer is the most common way a small group falls outside it.
